WinCheck 3.0 User Manual Additions and Notes
=============================================
SHIFT+F6 will Tile all of the open Windows.
SHIFT+F5 will Cascade all open Windows.
Voiding Transactions (CTRL+V)
---------------------
To Void a transaction, choose Void from the Data menu or prss CTRL+V.
A prompt will appear asking if you are sure you want to void the
transaction - yes will Void the selected transaction....
Printing Dot Matrix Checks
--------------------------
New to WinCheck version 3.0G and later, is the ability to print
directly to the printer port. This was implemented to allow for
a single check to be printed to a dot matrix printer without a
page eject or form feed occuring. Refer to the On-Line Help
file (Topic: Printing Checks to a Dot Matrix Printer) for more
information on this feature.
Pre-defined Categories When Starting a New Account
--------------------------------------------------
New to version 3.0G and later; when starting a new account, you
will be given an option to use pre-defined categories and
subcategories:
Choose Personal (the default) and WinCheck will create pre-defined
categories for you, such as:
Automobile:Gasoline
Charitable Donations
Food:Dining Out
Gifts
Healthcare:Prescriptions
Leisure:Video Rentals
Choose Business and WinCheck will create pre-defined categories
for you, such as:
Utilities:Electricity
Taxes:State Income Tax
Services:Accounting
Office Expenses:Rent
Entertainment:Meals
Choose Both and WinCheck will create pre-defined Business and Personal
categories. And finally, choose "None" and WinCheck will not create
categories for you, allowing you to specify all of you own custom
categories.
Using the Category Command Files on an Existing Account File
------------------------------------------------------------
Three batch files are included to create pre-defined categories when
opening a new account or add the categories to an existing account by
running the Command File (choose Run/Edit WinCheck Command File from
the Acct menu and select the appropriate command file):
H.WCB / WinCheck Batch File to create Personal categories
B.WCB / WinCheck Batch File to create Business categories
HB.WCB / WinCheck Batch File to create Personal & Business categories
These files can be edited by choosing Run/Edit WinCheck Command File
from the Acct menu. Delete or add categories to the WCB file.
Command File Language
---------------------
Page 16-2 Indicates that the default check # value is 0. If
no check number is indicated, WinCheck will inserted the next
available check number and not a 0 as documented.
Page 16-2 refers to the Category Keyword without a note about
the types of Categories. New to version 3.0G of WinCheck is the
ability to specify the type of category:
Expense
Income
Both (Income and Expense)
as well as Tax Deductable/Tax Significant
The additional parameters for the Category Keyword are:
E = Expense I = Income T = Tax Deductable/Significant B = Both (default)
If no parameter is indicated, then categories are marked as Both
or general (both Income and Expense). For more accurate reporting
of Cash Flow and Budgeting information, you should indicate the
type of category (Income or Expense) whenever possible.
CATEGORY=(ET)Automobile/Truck:Maintenance
Creates a Tax Significant Expense category named Automobile/Truck, with a
subcategory of Maintenance.
CATEGORY=(IT)Interest Income
Creates a Tax Significant Income category named Interest Income.
CATEGORY=(E)Automobile:Gasoline
Creates a Expense category named Automobile, with a subcategory called Gasoline.
CATEGORY=Automobile
Creates a general category called Automobile.
Reports

The Rows and Column boxes are grayed when a internal report is
selected (as is the Export button).
Heading on Page 13-10 of the manual, should read:

WinCheck Order Form
Each report is available for Savings and Checking data (if the
account is a Savings and Checking account).
Checking: Register Sorted by Date, Number
Savings: Register Sorted by Date, Number
If the account is a Checking or Cash account (no Savings
account tracking), then the reports will not appear with the word
Checking or Savings before them. Choose the Print or Preview
button to print or preview the report with the data from the
selected months.

Data Menu Items
---------------
Under the Data Menu there are three optional Register window options.
They are:
Register Vertical Gridlines
Register Horizontal Gridlines
Show Category and Memo in Register
All of these options, when checked, will affect open Register
windows.
"Show Category and Memo in Register" is an option to display the
Category/Subcategory as well as the Memo 1 information in the
Register window. This information will appear below the Payee or
Description information when "Show Category and Memo in Register"
is selected (checked).
For example:
03/14 Checking Cash Machine 20.00
Entertainment:Fun, Chicago's
Entertainment:Fun Category/Subcategory
Chicago's Memo 1 line information from the Transaction
Details dialog.
Additionally there are options for horizontal and vertical lines
for the items in the Register window.
"Register Vertical Gridlines" will place vertical lines between
the columns of information in the Register window.
"Register Horizontal Gridlines" will place horizontal lines between
the rows of transaction information in the Register window.
